There are many siblings that have the gift of music and have created a successful brother and sister music team, from the Carpenters, the Jackson Five, to the Jonas Brothers.

Siblings usually have natural musical chemistry with each other and are able to complement each other’s voices flawlessly.

It’s amazing to see how these talented brother and sister teams can harmonize so effortlessly; it’s even more exciting when they dance in sync and have fun while doing it.

In this post, we’re going to take a look at 12 of the most famous brother and sister singers. Let’s get started.

1. The Carpenters

Up first, we have Karen and Richard, who were known by their surname: The Carpenters. They got their start in music by singing in their parent’s garage, with Richard taking piano lessons and Karen learning the drums.

Their musical partnership clicked by combining Karen’s vocal skills and Richard’s composition and harmonizing skills. After the release of “Close to You” in 1970, they achieved significant success.

The Carpenters had a 14-year-long career and had three #1 singles as well as five #2 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Unfortunately, touring put them under immense stress and led to their group disbanding in 1979.

Even sadder for fans and the music world, Karen tragically died at the age of 32 from complications due to anorexia nervosa.

2. The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 was a family band that consisted of five brothers—Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, Marlon, and the most famous brother of all, Michael Jackson. They were signed to Motown Records in 1968, and their first album was released in 1969.

The Jackson 5 had a successful career with four #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and five #1 singles on the R&B chart. During the group’s peak, they were so popular the term Jacksonmania was coined.

The group’s popularity slowly declined in the mid-1970s, though Michael continued to have a successful solo career. However, Jackson 5 received their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980 and was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

3. The Osmonds

Merrill, Jay, Alan, Wayne, and Donny Osmond, who were known as the Osmonds, are a brother quintet group that achieved success in the early 1970s. They were born into a family of eleven children!

The brothers started singing together when they were only young, and by the time they were teenagers, they had achieved significant success with their hit song, “One Bad Apple.”

The brothers went on to sell over 77 million records over the course of their careers and also had success as solo singers in their own right.

4. BeBe & CeCe Winans

Next up, we have BeBe and CeCe Winans, who are two of the most successful gospel singers of all time. As a brother-sister duo, they have achieved immense popularity both within the gospel community and beyond.

Bebe and Cece are the younger siblings of the famous gospel group, the Winans. Following their siblings’ footsteps, the brother and sister began their careers in the early 1980s.

In 1991, BeBe and CeCe released their most successful album, Different Lifestyles. The album was a critical and commercial success, spawning several hit singles. The duo went on to release three more studio albums and win 9 Dove awards and 3 Grammys.

5. Hanson

Hanson is a pop-rock band formed in 1992 by three brothers, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson. They started singing and performing together when they were only toddlers.

Isaac is the eldest; he does backup and lead vocals, as well as electric and acoustic guitar and bass. Taylor sings vocals as well and plays keyboard and percussion. Zac is the youngest Hanson; he plays percussion, piano, and guitar, as well as does vocals for the group.

Hanson achieved major success with their 1997 single “MMMBop,” from their debut album, Middle of Nowhere. The album earned them three Grammy nominations.

Afterward, they went on to release six more studio albums. The group has had six #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and they have also won two Grammy Awards.

6. The Bee Gees

The Bee Gees are a brother trio that achieved success in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The brothers—Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb—started singing together when they were children. Their first hit was the song “New York Mining Disaster 1941.”

The Bee Gees had an incredibly successful career with nine #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also won eight Grammy Awards. Today, they are known as the Disco Kings and the Kings of Dance music by fans worldwide.

In 1997, the Bee Gees were added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maurice Gibb died on January 12, 2003, from a heart attack. Robin later died on May 20, 2012, from liver cancer. Barry is the only surviving member of the group.

7. The Everly Brothers

The Everly Brothers are a brother duo that achieved success in the 1950s and 1960s. They both started singing together when they were only children, and by the time they were teenagers, they had already achieved success with their hit song “Bye Bye Love.” 

They grew up singing alongside their father, a country music singer. The Everly Brothers had a very successful career, with six singles topping the UK chart and three #1 singles on Billboard Hot 100.

They were added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Phil Everly died on January 3, 2014, from complications of lung disease. Don passed away on August 21, 2021.

8. Tegan And Sara

Canadian indie pop band Tegan and Sara was formed in 1995 by identical twin sisters Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin. They achieved success with their 2007 album The Con.

Both sisters write their own music and play multiple instruments. Tegan and Sara have released eight studio albums—four of these charted in the top five on the Canadian charts.

Tegan and Sara have won several awards, including a Juno Award for Group of the Year in 2014. They have also been nominated for an Academy Award for their collab on the song “Everything Is Awesome!!!” for the film The Lego Movie.

9. The Jonas Brothers

Comprised of Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas, we have the Jonas Brothers. They are an American pop-rock band that was formed in 2005.

The brothers first achieved popularity with their 2006 self-titled album, although it was their third album, A Little Bit Longer, that gained them critical and commercial success. The last two of their albums were also #1 hits.

The Jonas Brothers are one of the most successful brother groups in music history. They have achieved massive hits with their music, winning over 61 awards, and have also had successful careers in television and film.

10. Oasis

British rock band Oasis was formed in 1991. The band was made up Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, Tony McCarroll, and two brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, who where the co-founders. The group achieved success with their hit single “Wonderwall.”

In the almost two decades the group was active, they released seven studio albums, all of which topped the charts in the UK. They also had seven video albums, and all but two were #1 hits.

Oasis had a very successful career with numerous awards, including 6 Brit Awards, 4 MTV Music Awards, and 3 World Music Awards, to name a few.

11. The Breeders

Formed in 1990, the Breeders are an American alternative rock band made up of Kim and Kelley Deal, along with Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson. The group achieved success with their 1993 single “Cannonball.”

The twin sisters initially started in the band Pixies. After that group disbanded, they focused on the Breeders and went on to release five studio albums that ranked in the top 50 in the UK charts.

The group went on hiatus in 1994 but returned in 2001 with new members. Since then, the Breeders have continued to release recordings.

12. The Beach Boys

Brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, along with Mike Love and Al Jardine, formed the Beach Boys in 1961. Their 1963 hit “Surfin’ U.S.A.” is a classic, and their lackadaisical style and lyrics that visualized surf, sun, girls, and youthful energy has been dubbed the California sound.

In their career that has spanned over 50 years, the group has released 29 studio albums and 75 singles. Their legacy is far-reaching, influencing many musical artists and groups that followed in their steps in the decades to follow.

The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and many of their songs, like “In My Room,” “California Girls,” and “Good Vibrations,” were added to the Grammy Hall of Fame.
